About the Role: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Orthoptist (or an aspiring one) to join the Frimley Health Foundation Trust. The role is based in the Frimley Park Eye Treatment Centre, where you will play a vital part in delivering high-quality ophthalmology services to a diverse patient population.
You will be responsible for holding your own clinics and have the chance to expand your expertise by developing and delivering extended roles in areas such as:
1. Glaucoma management
2. Intravitreal therapy (IVT)
3. Stroke rehabilitation
4. Paediatric refraction
5. Low vision aid assessments
6. Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) screening
7. Special school orthoptic clinics
About the Team & Department: You will be joining a large, multidisciplinary team, including:
1. Ophthalmologists
2. Optometrists
3. Ophthalmic Nurses
4. Nurse Practitioners
5. Ophthalmic Assistants
6. Care Assistants
Collaboration with other specialities such as Neurology, Endocrinology, and Elderly Care is also an integral part of the role.

Main duties of the job:
DIMENSIONS OF JOB: The post will be based at Frimley Park Hospital, although the post-holder will be expected to work at any of the hospitals where eye services are provided by Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust. A car is therefore essential.
To provide Orthoptic services as an autonomous practitioner across all Frimley Health sites. To assess, diagnose, and manage patients referred to the Orthoptic Department. Works as an active member of a multi-disciplinary team. To contribute to a comprehensive quality Orthoptic assessment service for patients referred to the Orthoptic Department. To be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, formulation, and conduction of treatment programmes for a full range of Orthoptic cases both in- and out-patients. To undertake the lead role for our Low Visual Aid Service, by contributing to a comprehensive quality service for the patients referred to the service.
