The Role
My client seeks an ambitious experienced electronic-biased Purchasing Manager to join the business. The ideal candidate will have extensive purchasing experience, over 10 years of management experience, and an electronics background.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Negotiate and coordinate the timely and cost-effective supply of all materials, sub-assemblies, and support services to the point of need, ensuring company cost and performance targets are achieved.
2. Promote and maintain close liaison with Planning, Sales, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, and Engineering disciplines to maximize procurement performance for the business.
3. Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to secure cost savings while upholding quality and reliability standards.
4. Oversee a supplier portfolio, optimizing the flow of products from various sources to meet operational requirements.
5. Establish, monitor, and own departmental KPIs to measure performance and identify areas for improvement.
6. Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities, including sourcing, evaluating, and selecting suppliers based on quality, price, reliability, and delivery speed.
7. Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance purchasing processes and overall performance.
8. Develop and execute effective purchasing strategies for materials, supplies, and services to align with business objectives.
9. Manage supplier performance through evaluation and relationship building, ensuring reliability and quality while supporting strategic departmental goals.
10. Collaborate with Production, Quality, and Store teams to ensure materials are available promptly to meet operational demands.
11. Monitor and forecast demand levels to maintain a continuous supply of materials while minimizing excess inventory.
Requirements:
1. Holds an engineering qualification ideally in an electronics field.
2. Over 10 years of experience managing a team (essential).
3. Hold CIPS Level 6.
4. Highly proficient in using ERP and MRP tools.
5. Knowledge of electronic components.
6. Demonstrated ability to secure favorable terms with suppliers.
7. Excellent negotiation skills.
8. Up-to-date knowledge of modern procurement practices.
9. Solid understanding of logistics and supply chain.
Salary: The salary for this position is £55,000–£60,000 for candidates who meet all key qualifications and competencies.
