Hours: 22.5 per week
Location: Westcountry Rivers Trust’s office is in Stoke Climsland and whilst we have adopted hybrid working, there is an expectation to work from the office on a regular basis and travel to sites across the delivery area.
Westcountry Rivers Trust is seeking to hire a part-time IT Manager or IT Officer (dependent on experience). Including website and content management.
This is a permanent contract after a successful 6 month probation period.
The starting salary for the role is £15,420 (£25,700 FTE) - £21,600 (£36,000 FTE) (dependent on experience)

About the Role
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
For IT Manager level:
1. To ensure the charity’s IT systems and technologies run effectively and securely.
2. Manage and co-ordinate all IT matters, including physical infrastructure, data, technology, security, telephony, licenses and computer hardware and software.
3. Develop and maintain IT policies, procedures and standards and implement them across the Trust in discussion with the Leadership Team.
4. Manage the Trust’s website, including content updates, technical maintenance, and security compliance.
5. Provide IT support to staff, troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
6. Develop and deliver IT training and promote a culture of good data management and cybersecurity awareness across the Trust.
7. Arrange a regular security audit and monitor security vulnerabilities, threats and events ensuring the Trust is adequately protected.
8. Monitor email and electronic record retention policies and ensure adequate backup of files and data.
9. Review provision of IT equipment, asset safeguarding, destruction of old equipment and removal of unsupported devices.
10. Ensure the charity adheres to the requirements of relevant guidance and legislation, while aiming to deliver a best practice approach.
11. Use initiative to find solutions to improve processes and make efficiencies.
12. Provide technical support for our Volunteer Management System, Assemble.
For IT Officer level:
1. Provide first line IT support to staff, troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
2. Procure and set up new devices and manage user accounts.
3. Manage the Trust’s WordPress website, including uploading and updating content.
4. Implement security measures, including password management and two factor Authentication.
5. Support the implementation of IT policies and procedures, including data protection and GDPR compliance.
6. Liaise with external support providers to escalate technical issues when necessary.
7. Promote a culture of good data management and cybersecurity awareness across the Trust.
8. Use initiative to find solutions to improve processes and make efficiencies.
Person specification
Knowledge and Experience
Essential Criteria:
IT Manager Level
1. Previous experience as an IT Manager, or similar role.
2. Demonstrable experience and knowledge of managing an organisation's IT systems and processes.
3. Demonstrable experience of managing SharePoint and Microsoft 365.
4. Knowledge of GDPR and other relevant legislation and experience of applying knowledge.
5. Experience of managing cyber security threats and ensuring IT systems are robust and protected.
6. Experience of managing both hardware, software and IT systems and processes, including physical infrastructure and networking, across an organisation.
7. Experience and skills in managing a website.
8. Experience of successfully initiating and implementing changes across an organisation.
9. Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and deliver training.
10. Ability to use initiative and resolve problems in a timely manner.
IT Officer Level
1. Experience providing IT support in a professional setting.
2. Knowledge of IT infrastructure, networking, and software troubleshooting.
3. Experience with Microsoft 365 and SharePoint administration.
4. Good understanding of IT security basics, including password policies and phishing awareness.
5. Ability to work methodically and provide clear IT guidance to colleagues.
6. Willingness to develop IT knowledge and stay updated with best practices.
7. Experience in website content management and basic technical support.
8. Ability to use initiative and resolve problems in a timely manner.
9. Ability to manage and upload content to a WordPress website.
Desirable Criteria:
- Professionally qualified.
