Head of Project Delivery – Lead with Impact

Our client, a leading UK automation solutions provider and systems integrator, is seeking a dynamic Head of Project Delivery to oversee their project portfolio and ensure every project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

The Role
Reporting to the Commercial Director, the Head of Project Delivery will be the cornerstone of the project management team, ensuring all projects stay on track from inception to handover. This is a customer-facing leadership role where you’ll manage resources, mitigate risks, and foster a culture of continuous improvement while mentoring a team of Project Managers.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop detailed project plans, ensuring resource availability and timely delivery within scope and budget.
* Collaborate with Heads of Department to allocate resources effectively across all projects.
* Define project scopes with stakeholders, ensuring technical feasibility and alignment with objectives.
* Escalate issues to leadership promptly and provide actionable recommendations.
* Manage relationships with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams.
* Perform risk management to minimise project risks and ensure Health & Safety leadership by example.
* Set achievable goals and KPIs, producing monthly reports to track progress and threats.
* Mentor Project Managers, sharing best practices and lessons learned to enhance team performance.
* Deputise for the Operations Director as needed and support Sales and Applications teams.
* Chair regular meetings to ensure cohesive, integrated project solutions.
What We’re Looking For
* Extensive experience in project management, with a proven track record of delivering complex control/automation projects (e.g., PLC, SCADA, DCS, Telemetry, Panel Design, Installation).
* Significant line management experience, developing sizable project teams.
* Strong commercial and contractual knowledge with demonstrable experience.
* Engineering degree and Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent).
* APM Practitioner certification (or similar).
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Project and other Microsoft tools.
* Customer-facing confidence with excellent relationship-building skills.
* A proactive team player who can also work independently.
