Abbot’s Hill School are seeking an inspirational teacher of Spanish to join a successful and lively department in its delivery of outstanding teaching and learning both through its curricular and co-curricular activities.
Our MFL department is made up of highly experienced teachers and therefore this post would be particularly well-suited to either an experienced or an Early Career Teacher. We are part of a local ECT Hub with other independent schools which regularly arrange training days and support the ECT programme and have been invited to join the MFL SCITT based at Haberdashers’ Aske’s School in Elstree.
The post holder will be responsible for teaching Years 7-11 (we do not, currently, have a 6th Form). We are a 4-16 school and so our teachers in the Senior school do work with language teachers in the Prep school to ensure a seamless transition from Prep to Senior.
Why choose Abbot's Hill?
We are committed to recruiting a skilled, diverse and highly qualified staff body in order to provide the highest quality of education for our pupils. Abbot’s Hill places great value on the welfare of its staff. We are fortunate to work in beautiful surroundings. But more than that, we offer an exceptional professional development programme, in-house coaching, a staff benefits package, a staff welfare committee, a staff wellbeing day and kind, committed and highly-qualified colleagues who work collegiately to enhance the school.
The role requires a close working relationship with the wider team in MHEG, ensuring marketing and admissions are consistently aligned to optimise the outcomes for all schools. With any potential further growth in the Group, this may involve collaborative work with appropriate schools.
Why choose The Mill Hill Education Group?
In April 2024, Abbot’s Hill became the tenth UK school in the Mill Hill Education Group, after a charity merger. Abbot’s Hill now benefits from the wider support network across the Group, including in marketing and admissions. The Group also offers the financial security that underpins future investment, with the next major project being the extension of co-education to Reception-year 6, planned from September 2025. This will underpin a strategy to expand total pupil numbers across the whole school by around 100 pupils over the next few years. The new appointee will play a central role in this strategy.
Mill Hill Education Group is a charitable collection of independent schools. Its aims of instilling values and inspiring minds has been a key focus since the founding of Mill Hill School in 1807.
