Sales Engineer
This is a hybrid working role - candidates must be able to commute to Poole and hold a full UK driving licence.
Basic salary: £44,000 - Monday to Thursday 8am to 4.30pm and Friday 8am to 1pm, along with excellent pension and benefits.
As a Sales Engineer, you will be joining a global engineering business where you can progress your career and receive additional product training. You will have a Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering background with extensive knowledge of assembly and manufacturing processes, estimating skills, and a high level of commercial awareness and customer focus to generate quotations and proposals.
Your responsibilities will include providing technical support to both internal and external customers, consulting directly with customers, evaluating enquiries, and providing suitable technical and commercial solutions. A good understanding of sales techniques and negotiating is essential, along with costing and pricing knowledge related to engineering products.
Candidate Requirements
1. Excellent organisational and inter-personal skills; highly confident.
2. Able to attend client visits; driving licence is essential.
3. Must have excellent Microsoft Office skills and experience using a CRM system.
4. Highly motivated with excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
5. Ability to form strong relationships with customers and stakeholders.
Duties
1. Consult directly with customers to evaluate technical enquiries and provide the most suitable technical and commercial solution, displaying excellent communication skills.
2. Follow up on high-value quotations and convert them into orders, maintaining details on the customer relationship management system.
3. Prepare quotations and negotiate, including costing and margin analysis.
4. Convert customer technical enquiries and transpose them into valve solutions fit for purpose.
5. Liaise and support the customer service team to process enquiries, quotations, and customer purchase orders.
6. Ensure compliance with the correct and relevant export control legislation.
7. Visit, liaise, and support customers and external sales personnel to ensure that customer expectations are understood and requirements are met.
8. Using Excel, calculate product costs using a combination of estimates and verified manufacturing costs.
9. Assist product marketing in highlighting/identifying potential new product opportunities.
10. Develop and work with a wide-ranging external network to enhance professional and technical knowledge.
11. Attend sales exhibitions as required, which may involve international travel.
