About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced support worker to join a fun, passionate and caring team to support our young adults aged 21-36 at St David’s House. Our residents have bespoke care packages with enrichment programmes that support independence, develop on daily living skills and support in accessing leisure, social and vocational opportunities in the community. So, retail therapy, a bite to eat down the pub, or a leisurely walk along the beach will definitely be on the list of things to do.
We provide exceptional care whilst encouraging our young people to follow their dreams.
At St David’s House we find that the rigid daily structures and strict routine of other care homes don’t really work here, so our staff get to spend quality time with the young people they support.
You will be working as part of a close team of staff led by a Team Leader who will provide supervision and support so that you are able to help deliver high-quality education, care, health and therapy.
You will be supported every step of the way by providing an excellent, well designed induction programme along with mandatory training which will help you get off to the best possible start, ensuring that you fully understand your role within the organisation. We offer many opportunities for personal development, in fact, if you haven’t already obtained a Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care or equivalent, we will fund and support you in the enrolment and training of this qualification which is a requirement of the role.
About you
As an experienced Support Worker, you will bring a wealth of knowledge and practical experience in providing high-quality care. You will be committed to improving the lives of those you support, always ensuring their well-being and dignity are at the forefront of everything you do.
Your strong communication skills allow you to build meaningful relationships with both residents and colleagues, with the ability to adapt your approach to meet the unique needs of each person. Whether supporting with daily activities, promoting independence, or providing emotional support, you approach each situation with patience, empathy, and professionalism.
Having gained valuable experience in similar roles, you will be comfortable handling a range of complex needs and situations, and can manage challenging behaviors with sensitivity and understanding. You will be a person who takes pride in your ability to problem-solve and stay calm under pressure, always acting in the best interests of the people you support.
Additionally, your experience will have equipped you with a thorough understanding of safeguarding procedures, person-centered care, and the importance of confidentiality and respect in all interactions. You’ll be comfortable taking on additional responsibilities such as supervising or mentoring less experienced colleagues, offering guidance, and sharing your expertise to ensure a collaborative, effective team environment.
