Vehicle Test Technician in Test Services & Site Facilities
Location: Cranfield
Contract Duration: 12 months
Pay: £18.01/hr PAYE (Inside IR35)
Deliverables:
1. Preparation, building, and maintenance of vehicles or components for testing in line with local procedures and Nissan Engineering Manuals.
2. Support testing in static and dynamic conditions to gather accurate, timely, and quality test data/results.
3. Support evaluation and concern identification including liaison with Test Engineer.
4. Support delivery of Key Performance Indicators for the section.
5. Provide support to other sections as required.
Description:
1. Assemble/disassemble parts, components, or vehicles for static & dynamic test activities.
2. Maintenance of Test Vehicle Fleet including safety checks, retrofitting, fault finding, and repairs.
3. Camouflaging of confidential vehicles in accordance with procedures.
4. Delivery/collection of competitor vehicles from dealers.
5. Liaise with Test/Design engineers to conduct tests to Nissan Standards & local operating procedures.
6. Instrumentation set-up.
7. Write reports.
8. Assist with facility management including maintenance, facility calibration, risk assessment, and training.
9. Learn bespoke systems required to fulfill the role.
Materials and Equipment:
The company shall provide the following materials and equipment, which shall be returned at the end of the assignment:
* The necessary tools, instrumentation & equipment for the deliverables/KPIs/SLAs.
* Task-specific PPE (such as eye protection, hearing protection, hand protection).
The agency shall ensure that the contractor shall be equipped with the following materials and equipment for use during the services:
* Safety Footwear complying with EN ISO 20345.
* Agency branded uniform (to consist of 2x grey combat style trousers, min 2x black polo t-shirts, min 1x black cotton sweater).
Qualifications, Skills and Training Requirements:
1. Ideally C&G / BTEC L3 in mechanical or automotive engineering with a recognised apprenticeship.
2. Fundamental understanding of vehicle disassembly, assembly, & maintenance techniques.
3. Vehicle system knowledge with the ability to fault find.
4. Electronic/Electrical background (automotive).
5. Experience within vehicle or component test environments is preferred but not essential.
6. Understanding of basic component measurement techniques preferred but not essential.
7. FLT licence preferred but not essential.
8. Basic Machining/Welding/Fabrication preferred but not essential.
9. Basic computer literacy (word processing).
10. Fully proficient in the fundamental practical mechanical/Electrical skills required for this role.
11. Ability to work safely and comply with legal and company safety policies.
12. A working knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
13. Excellent organisational skills.
14. Strong attention to detail.
15. Ability to work independently to manage and prioritise workload.
