About the role
Morrison Water Services Ltd are currently looking to recruit an Electrical Design Engineer working within our Design Team across a wide portfolio of projects. The role is based in our Westfield Office near Glasgow reporting to the Morrison Water Services Electrical Design Lead and may involve travel to sites as required.
As the Electrical Design Engineer you will be you will be working as part of the Engineering Team. Responsible for managing the Electrical Engineering aspects of clean & wastewater projects within the capital delivery works Programme.
The Morrison Water Services Scotland region currently delivers a number of frameworks for Scottish Water, including the Infrastructure Capital programme and the MEICA replacement operational alliance DV2 Lot 4 (this role). In addition, we deliver further specialist frameworks for Scottish Water as well for a portfolio of non-regulated clients. The business is currently at c. £130m p.a with further growth planned. We also perform design work for various water utilities throughout the UK spanning the entire country.
As the Electrical Design Engineer your duties & responsibilities will include:
- Working within a multi-disciplinary team on projects focusing primarily on water & wastewater M&E capital maintenance and growth projects.
- Supporting Project Managers with knowledge to complete design and project engineering deliverables within the Pre-Construction phase.
- Continual professional development including professional registration is encouraged and actively supported.
- Attend and contribute to internal and external design review and progress meetings.
- Participate in design co-ordination with other engineering disciplines and professionals.
- Engineering outputs including Cable Calculations and Cable Schedules.
- Produce electrical schematic diagrams and documentation.
- Engineering drawings (Electrical drawings, containment and cabling routes, system layout drawings).
- Review of specifications and designs against industry standards and specifications.
- Production of Engineering reports & Feasibility studies.
- Production of Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
The Key Requirements
- Electrical Degree / HND / HNC or equivalent in engineering or related discipline.
- Experience in design development for clean / wastewater non infrastructure would be desirable.
- Chartered or Incorporated (CEng/IEng) or working towards would be desirable.
- Previous utility industry knowledge and experience is desirable but not essential.
- Ability to liaise and engage with clients and key stakeholders.
- Provide mentoring, guidance and technical advice to support and supervise junior staff.
- Proven ability to work within a team environment with a dedicated approach to meet project deadlines.
- A clean driving licence
