YOUR NEW ROLE, WHAT’S INVOLVED?
Reporting to one of our Associate Directors for the Water, the Commercial Manager will work closely with our Project Directors and Managers to provide advice and support throughout the Contract lifecycle to minimise commercial risk and maximise financial returns in line with the Discipline’s objectives.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Governance: Support in our internal governance projects seeking approval of opportunities, identifying and mitigation of risks.
2. Pricing: Reviewing and supporting delivery teams pricing individual commissions and Compensation Events and risk items.
3. Delivery: Supporting our Project Directors to ensure compliance to our contractual obligations including, payment application processes, annual reviews and disputes.
4. Project Setup: Support our Project Managers to establish Work Breakdown Structures compliant with our contractual terms and to enable cost tracking and control.
5. Contract Preparation: Working with our Project Managers and Legal teams to prepare subcontract agreements in accordance with our contractual obligations.
6. Invoicing: Managing the Application for Payment process within our contracts to ensure positive cashflow and debt management.
7. Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of contractual forecasts and budgets in accordance with our contractual obligations and internal processes.
8. Risk Mitigation: Quickly escalating and supporting on commercial issues such as payment disputes and claims.
9. Lessons Learnt: Collation of feedback to ensure continuous improvement of our commercial responses on future opportunities.
10. Commercial Community: Become an integral and active part of our Commercial Community sharing knowledge and experience throughout the wider business.

WE’D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE:
1. Leading People: Build strong trusting relationships within our delivery teams and clients to support delivery and effect change.
2. Design & Build Experience: Have experience working for or in a contractor organisation delivering multi-disciplinary projects, ideally within the regulated water sector.
3. Inclusion and Performance: Promotes and engages diverse perspectives fostering inclusion in every area of business operations.
4. Commercial: Experience in commercial disputes and settlements in particular where working for a contractor.
5. Strategic Thinking and Direction: Ability to operate and develop a business; forward thinking, capable of visualising and planning for the longer term.
6. Problem Solving: Able to identify potential future risks and issues, develop mitigation strategies and monitor performance.
7. Project Delivery: Possess a broad range of project experience at a multi-disciplinary level including extensive use and knowledge of NEC3 and 4 forms of contract.
8. Communication: Demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively and positively influence at all levels.
