Operations Manager
What this job involves:
As the Operations Manager at JLL, you will play a critical role in overseeing engineering operations and service delivery across a designated account.
You will report into the UK & Europe Engineering Lead and be responsible and accountable for collaborating with a team of engineers, technicians, and vendors to ensure the efficient performance, maintenance, and operations of all engineering systems within client-owned properties. This role demands a strong background in engineering management, exceptional leadership skills, and a customer-centric approach to service delivery.
What your day-to-day will look like:
* Manage and oversee the engineering operations of assigned properties, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company / client procedures.
* Manage internal and external service level agreements and Key Performance Indicators to ensure contractual obligations are met or exceeded. Lead and develop a team of engineers and technicians, providing guidance, mentorship, and support in their day-to-day activities.
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as a trusted advisor on engineering-related matters and proactively identifying opportunities to enhance service delivery. Ensure consistency of delivery.
* Build processes and embed governance to ensure engineer operations are optimized.
* Be accountable for improving areas of underperformance within the service delivery.
* Ensure teams leverage data to drive service delivery excellence. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including property managers, vendors, and contractors, to ensure seamless operations and the timely completion of projects.
* Accountability and control of engineering budgetary targets, ensuring financial objectives are met while demonstrating a strong understanding of engineering cost drivers. Lead life cycle planning and asset validation programme across portfolio.
* Ensure risk registers are available and kept up to date.
* Oversee and coordinate incident management response, investigation and governance process in collaboration with other key stakeholders & client teams.
* Oversee the Planned and Reactive maintenance for all assets identified within a large estate and CAFM system in accordance with an agreed maintenance regime.
* Provide regular performance updates, reports, and recommendations to senior management, detailing operational achievements, challenges, and improvement initiatives. Drive innovation to deliver cost optimization and deliver improvement strategies using quantifiable data driven information from all available sources.
* Provide sub-contractor control provision for the site wide FM operation.
* Oversee day to day operations and service delivery, taking a strategic and tactical approach to promote continuous improvement.
* Drive and foster an SLA focused approach and service delivery to direct and indirect reports.
* Support and manage relevant elements of JLL’s & clients engineering assurance programmes.
Required Skills and Experience:
* Proven experience (minimum 6-7 years) in engineering management, preferably in the hard services & facility management industry.
* Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and life safety systems.
* Comprehensive understanding of local regulations, codes, and standards governing engineering operations in the United Kingdom.
* Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to motivate, develop, and manage a diverse team.
* Proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to make informed decisions under pressure.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and client relationship management skills.
* Proficiency in computer software programs, such as Microsoft Office and computer-aided facility management (CAFM) systems.
* Professional certifications such as Chartered Engineer (CEng) or similar are highly desirable.
* Proven experience of demonstrating high levels of resilience and managing high volumes of workload.
