Job summary This post holder will be the Deputy Matron for Olayan Day Care Unit, Minor Procedure and Apheresis Units within the Cancer Services Division. The post holder will support the OCC Matron in working with clinical and operational leads to support and deliver an efficient and effective service which contributes to the achievement of national and local performance standards.The OCC accommodates patients undergoing Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) and haematology treatments within the Olayan Day Unit.Working closely with the OCC Matron, the Deputy Matron will play a vital role in supporting the OCC's vision by providing strong leadership and ensuring excellent care for patients undergoing SACT or haematology treatments. The Deputy Matron is responsible to provide mentorship, supervision, and guidance to nursing teams, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.With the support of the Matron for Haematology services, the successful candidate will be responsible for the management of the Minor Procedure and Apheresis Units ensuring high standards of clinical practice and patient safety.The Deputy Matron is expected to deputise for the OCC Matron and the Matron for Haematology services in their absence including Kingston Medical Day Unit.The post holder will be based at The Royal Marsden in Sutton, working Monday-Friday. Main duties of the job o To act as part of the Cancer Services management team, working collaboratively with the Divisional Nurse Director (DND), Olayan and Haematology Matrons, Clinical Leads, and the Clinical Business Unit (CBU) manager to assure the Executive Team and Trust Board that robust systems of governance and performance management are in place to deliver high-quality person-centred care and services for patients.o Support with the effective and efficient use of resources, both manpower and financial, to deliver high quality, evidence-based services.o To support Olayan Unit Matron to line manage the senior nursing staff (Olayan Unit Sisters and Practice Education) and line manager for Apheresis and Minor Procedure Unit Sisters) and support them to develop and manage their teams.o To ensure the delivery of a consistently safe and high-quality service to patients and to participate in audit to evidence this.o To work closely with the infection prevention and control (IPC) team to maintain best practice in IPC, incorporating national requirements and standards within a clinical environment.o To work closely with the JACIE quality management team to meet JACIE standards within the unitso Actively contribute to highly complex clinical, operational and strategic decision making within SACT and Haematology services, Cancer Services Division and the Trust.
