Senior Merchandiser - Retail
Soloman Search are excited to be supporting TEALS with a new Senior Merchandiser opportunity....
TEALS is a Somerset based start-up that has been trading for just over 4 years having opened in December 2020. Currently trading from its first location (North/South Cadbury exit on the A303) the guest offer blends hospitality and retail under one roof.
Guests are catered for via both food to go and a table service restaurant. Within retail there is an extensive food offering as well as lifestyle & gifting.
We have a brand new opportunity for a Senior Merchandiser to join our team.
As the Senior Merchandiser you will be a key stakeholder in the next phase of Teals growth, overseeing the expansion of Teals retail offer in the current and new sites. You will provide commercial direction to the Buyers, building strategies to deliver ranges that meet customer expectation, inspire repeat visits and increase ATV.
You will be responsible for all Planning & Trading activities, building on the solid commercial base established in our first 4 year of trading.
You will design and implement best practice Merchandising processes that will identify and deliver future growth opportunities, continue to trade in a fast paced environment and support our new store rollout.

The impact you’ll own
* Keeping Teals purposeful and ahead of the game in its Retail offer
* Providing Merchandising expertise, designing & implementing best practice process for planning and trading activity to support expansion
* Overseeing annual sales and margin plans and developing strategies to deliver
* Providing commercial direction for Food & Non Food Buyers, informing strategy & ranges for Teals’ locations, delivering to time via strong critical path management.
* Developing a structured approach to range planning, incorporating strong space planning discipline.
* Supporting Buyers to develop the strategy for supply chain development of new TEALS locations
* Establishing a healthy balance between forward planning and weekly trading, maximising the opportunities provided by short lead time product and suppliers in a controlled manner.
* Leading weekly trade review and actions for relevant departments.
* Full ownership of stock management throughout the product lifecycle.
* Management & development of the Merchandise Admin Assistant.
* Developing future B&M team requirements to support growth.
* Key stakeholder in business development, working cross departmentally to deliver business growth and store rollout.
* Acting as a TEALS Ambassador through close working relationships with suppliers and other external stakeholders.
About You:
* 6+ years experience working in a fast paced B&M environment, ideally including FMCG
* Excellent team leadership/management skills
* Strong commercial & analytical skills, ability to communicate figures to creative thinkers
* Ability to see the big picture but also aware of the detail.
* Self-aware, good communicator, strong interpersonal skills
* Good project management skills.

Salary/Benefits
· Salary range – Dep on experience
· Quarterly bonus
· Staff discount 20%
· Staff lunch when on site
· Holiday is statutory with an extra day for each year worked up to 3 extra days
· Sick pay 5 days, raising to 10 days in second year.
· Pension contribution
Please note: Applicants will be expected to work mostly on site in Somerset to meet the needs of the business. Hybrid/flexible working will be considered alongside the role requirements.
