Quarriers South Ayrshire Youth Housing Support Service
are currently recruiting a full-time Transition Mentor to support young people aged 16–25 years who may be homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. The service aims to support the Council’s goal of reducing levels of repeat homelessness by providing a high-quality housing support service through our supported accommodation in Ayr and our outreach services across South and East Ayrshire.
The Transition Mentor will provide ongoing support and be a positive role model for young people who receive support, helping them access opportunities, engage positively within their communities through social diversionary activities and inclusion, promote positive social networks, and encourage engagement with friends and family as appropriate. Working directly with young people, you will gain their trust and support them to engage in learning experiences that promote their educational attainment, self-confidence, independent living skills, resilience, and academic qualifications.
If you are someone who can contribute a positive team ethos and has a good level of understanding and empathy regarding issues affecting young people who have faced adversity, then this is a great role for you!
Working pattern: Our outreach support service operates 7 days per week between 8 am - 8 pm. You will be part of a 4-week rolling rota, working weekends on and weekends off, with 8-hour day shifts.
We require the successful candidate to have a full driving license and access to their own car.
Quarriers offers a wide range of staff benefits including:
* Generous holiday entitlement: 29 annual holiday days + 4 public holidays for support staff, rising to 34 days after 5 years.
