Job overview
We are delighted to advertise a Band 7 Clinical Psychologist post which has become vacant due to career progression within our services. Working as a clinical psychologist within neuropsychology will offer you broad experience of working with people with acquired brain injury, providing an excellent foundation for a career in clinical neuropsychology.
You will make a valued contribution to the neuropsychology service(s), providing neuropsychological assessment and intervention and/or psychological therapies as determined by individual needs and rehabilitation goals. You will work closely with colleagues in neuropsychology, AHP’s, nursing, medicine and psychiatry to provide multi-disciplinary, goal-focused neuro-rehabilitation.
Main duties of the job
* To provide clinical psychology/neuropsychology services in a range of settings in line with neuropsychological formulation and neuro-rehabilitation goals.
* To complete psychological and/or neuropsychological assessment to develop formulation and intervention for individuals with acquired brain injury.
* To make an active contribution within an MDT setting to support and promote psychological wellbeing and neuropsychological rehabilitation.
* To communicate complex and sensitive information to colleagues, service users, carers/relatives and other professionals to support neurorehabilitation, safeguarding, risk assessments, capacity assessments and best interests’ decision making.
* To work flexibly and responsively to prioritise clinical demand.
* To offer psychological therapies, adapting psychological models and intervention to accommodate the impact of ABI.
* To make an active contribution to the neuropsychology service’s aims and objectives in relation to service innovation, audit and research.
* To contribute to teaching and training in clinical neuropsychology and to other healthcare professionals, as required.
* To develop skills and experience in offering clinical supervision to qualified and non-qualified staff.
* To promote and reflect CNTW's vision, values and strategic ambitions in delivering all aspects of the role.
* To support and promote open cultures within teams and services.

Person specification
Education and Qualification
* Doctoral Level training in clinical psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the British Psychological Society and the HCPC.
* HCPC registered practitioner psychologist.
* Pre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology.
Knowledge and Experience
* Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings including outpatient, community, primary care, and inpatient settings.
* Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course with presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity, including severe and enduring mental health problems, psychosis and personality disorder.
* Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex multivariable data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology.
* Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision.
* Experience of the application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts.
* Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health.
* Experience of working within the field of neuropsychology.
Skills and Competencies
* Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management.
* Skills in evidence based psychological interventions.
* Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinical sensitive information to clients, their family, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
* Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.
* Experience of MDT working and/or working in inpatient settings.
