About the role
As a SeniorMechanical Engineer, you’ll support our business by taking responsibility formanaging Mechanical engineering and compliance activity across Hydro sites. You’llensure this activity continues to meet or better legislative requirements interms of health, safety and environmental management. This role also provides authoritativetechnical advice to our Production and Maintenance teams.
You’ll identifythe Mechanical engineering aspects of the long-term plant investment plan forthe business and provide guidance in the development of specifications andproject technical support. Actively engage with our behavioural safetyprogramme, you’ll carry out safety tours with staff and contractors.
This rolecovers all plants within Hydro which includes 8 conventional hydro stations(126MW) and a pumped storage station (420MW). The stations are located fromTongland at the Solway Firth to Cruachan that is situated on the banks of LochAwe approximately 180 miles apart.
On average you’llbe expected to attend one of the sites per week with some office attendance atthe Glasgow office for team collaboration. This role also allows for some homeworking. We don’t offer a car allowance, but mileage will be paid from yourhome to the site location (excluding the Glasgow office). A valid UK drivinglicence is essential for this role.
About you
To besuccessful in this role you’ll be degree level qualified in a relevantengineering discipline and ideally be a chartered Engineer (or equivalent) of arelevant institute i.e. IMechE or IET. You’ll have extensive relevant workexperience in the Mechanical Engineering industry.
A NEBOSH orIOSH certificate in Health & Safety or equivalent would also be beneficial.
