The role
Carlisle Support Services is looking for a Head of Social Value & Sustainability that will play a pivotal role in advancing Carlisle Support Services' mission to foster sustainable development within the communities where we operate. This role will lead and influence both social value and sustainability strategies, ensuring initiatives align with the company's overall ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) goals. The Head of Social Value & Sustainability will be integral in creating, implementing, and enhancing projects that have a long-term impact on both the environment and the communities we serve, while supporting Carlisle's ESG objectives.
Your core role will include but not be limited to the following activities:
1. Strategy Development: Collaborate with senior leadership and internal teams to create and implement both social value and sustainability initiatives that support the company's overall ESG strategy.
2. Sustainability Integration: Develop and integrate sustainability practices within business operations, ensuring that environmental impact reduction is part of the broader social value strategy.
3. Stakeholder Engagement: Build and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, including regional teams, community groups, clients, and external partners, to ensure the success of both social value and sustainability initiatives.
4. Programme Leadership: Lead the creation and delivery of campaigns, community engagement projects, and sustainability-driven initiatives that align with the company's ESG strategy and contribute to local community development.
5. Reporting & Impact: Track, monitor, and report on the progress and outcomes of social value and sustainability projects, using relevant metrics and KPIs. Provide regular reports to demonstrate measurable social, environmental, and business outcomes.
6. Team Leadership: Inspire and support operational teams across various regions, ensuring alignment with the company's social value and sustainability objectives and that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
7. Internal & External Marketing: Collaborate with the marketing team to manage media relations, produce case studies, and share success stories that demonstrate the company's commitment to social value and sustainability.
8. Representation: Represent Carlisle Support Services at industry forums, conferences, and community events related to social value, sustainability, and corporate responsibility.
The ideal candidate
1. Proven experience in a similar role within social value, sustainability, corporate social responsibility (CSR), or ESG. Demonstrated success in driving both social and environmental value initiatives.
2. Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead multiple social value and sustainability projects concurrently. Excellent resource management, timeline control, and budget management experience.
3. Expertise in engaging and managing relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, ensuring their efforts align with the company's social value and sustainability strategy.
4. A deep understanding of sustainability principles and practices, and the ability to integrate them into both the company's operations and social value initiatives.
5. A commercially driven approach to social value and sustainability, balancing business objectives with the need to drive positive community and environmental impact.
6. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex social value and sustainability concepts to a range of audiences, from clients and partners to internal teams.
7. Proven leadership capabilities, with experience in leading teams, mentoring staff, and managing high-performing initiatives. Experience in managing cross-functional teams and influencing operational managers is beneficial.
8. A strong understanding of current trends in sustainability, social value, and CSR. Familiarity with relevant policies, frameworks, and regulations for measuring and reporting sustainability and social value.
9. A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field such as Sustainability, Social Sciences, Business Administration.
10. Professional qualifications or certifications in sustainability, social value, or CSR (desirable).
