Position Summary:
Reporting to the Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, the Assistant Director of Intergroup Dialogue and Restorative Practices at University of the Pacific plays a crucial role developing a university-wide intergroup dialogue program for the campus community. This role supports the university’s efforts to resolve conflict, strengthen relationships, and foster a sense of community and belonging by introducing and implementing education, training, and discourse that are grounded in intergroup dialogue and restorative practices. This position works collaboratively across multiple stakeholder groups and across all three campuses (Stockton, Sacramento, San Francisco), providing specialized expertise and programming to promote understanding, healing, and accountability.
Essential Functions:
1. Design and implement intergroup dialogue programs that facilitate constructive conversations across differences, focusing on issues related to identity, intersectionality, and power dynamics.
2. Introduce and promote restorative practices within the context of bias response, working to build a culture of accountability, repair, and healing.
3. Support the Director in developing and delivering training sessions and educational workshops for students, faculty, staff, and administrators on topics such as intergroup communication, restorative justice principles, and conflict resolution strategies.
4. Identify opportunities for innovative and responsive educational programming or interventions that advance ODEI’s mission.
5. Build and maintain partnerships with campus stakeholders, including student organizations, academic departments, and administrative units, to integrate intergroup dialogue and restorative practices into existing initiatives.
6. Provide ongoing support and resources to individuals and groups involved in bias incidents, offering guidance on restorative processes, dialogue facilitation, and conflict resolution techniques.
This position serves as Campus Security Authority (CSA) as outlined by the Clery Act. CSAs have federally mandated responsibilities to report crimes that are reported to them.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., criminal justice, ethnic studies, peace studies, psychology, social work, sociology).
* Five (5) years of work experience with diverse populations in higher education or relevant field.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Master’s degree or advanced coursework in a relevant field.
* Experience working in a higher education setting or similar institutional context.
* Training or certification in restorative practices, conflict resolution, or related fields.
* Advanced experience developing and implementing training curricula on identity, intersectionality, and justice frameworks.
* Familiarity with legal and regulatory frameworks related to bias response and diversity, equity, and inclusion programming.
* Experience with program evaluation and assessment methodologies.
* Experience developing and implementing diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
* Strong understanding of issues related to identity, power dynamics, privilege, and oppression.
* Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
* Deep understanding of issues related to identity, belonging, and power dynamics within institutional settings.
* Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
* Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
* Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Work is primarily performed in a standard office environment with use of computer and phone. Requires extended periods of sitting and repetitive hand/wrist motion while using computer keyboard and phone. Occasional standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, and reaching. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
Hiring Range: $68,640 - $73,408 per year. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
