Water Demand Strategy Manager
Working hours: Full Time, Permanent (plus out of hours standby)
Salary: Circa £77,500 p.a. depending on experience plus bonus and car allowance
Location: Durham, Essex, or Suffolk
About the role:
Are you passionate about reducing water demand across our whole operating region for the benefit of customers, communities, and the environment? We have an exciting opportunity to join our Water team as a Water Demand Strategy Manager to lead a professional team of people passionate about water efficiency and reducing water consumption in households, in businesses and through leakage from our own network. You’ll lead a range of activities from development of multi-year strategies and shaping behavioural-change campaigns through to overseeing the project work we do directly alongside our customers to help reduce their water usage. We have ambitious targets to meet across all aspects of water demand so there’s never been a better time to join us.
You’ll be a key member of the Water Service Planning leadership team influencing the operation of the whole Water directorate across Essex, Suffolk and the Northeast of England. We support all activities on raw water sources through to customers’ taps so if you’re keen to learn, enjoy working across a wonderful variety of topics, and are passionate about ensuring we manage our precious water resources sustainably then this is the role for you!
About you:
You will ideally have a proven track record in leading successful teams and effectively transforming strategic targets into tangible delivery plans and executing these efficiently. We’re looking for someone who can motivate, inspire and support development of their team. We are looking for a strong leader able to influence senior colleagues; you’ll play an important role in supporting our operational teams deliver on challenging service commitments. We’d love to hear from you if you’ve got experience in water efficiency or leakage related roles but also welcome applicants who can challenge our approaches by bringing insights from relevant experience from another industry.
It’s important to us that you enjoy taking on challenges, like meeting new people and have a natural ability to effectively network across our organisation and within the industry to ensure we are aware of and reacting to changes that could impact or inform our approach. You will also have the ability to filter, prioritise, and analyse information from a variety of internal and external sources and produce high quality verbal and written reporting for use up to executive level.
It would be beneficial for you to have some operational background to ensure you have a breadth of understanding of assets and processes, but this isn’t essential. Additionally, this role will involve operational out-of-hours standby which will require strong problem-solving capabilities and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
