Please note that we are accepting applications across a range of seniorities but not at entry level.
Do you have experience of landscape planning and, more specifically, landscape and visual impact assessments (LVIA)? We are looking for someone to join our specialist team as part of our award-winning design and landscape planning practice.
About us
Optimised Environments (OPEN) is a design and landscape planning practice with offices in Bristol, Edinburgh and Manchester. We have around 75 people in our team, with a strong track record for staff retention. OPEN has recently become part of the SLR Group with offices located around the world.
SLR is a global leader in environmental and advisory solutions helping clients achieve their sustainability goals. The coming together of OPEN and SLR provides a host of opportunities for career development and potential for work across a wide range of sectors and countries. The SLR team has around 35 landscape professionals across the UK.
We are willing to consider a variety of different working practices depending on your capability and location and can be flexible in this regard. Our salaries and benefits packages are competitive and will be commensurate with your experience.
The role
We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Landscape Architect or Planner to join the OPEN/SLR team with a view to specialising in landscape and visual impact assessment (LVIA) and landscape planning project work.
You could already be chartered or working towards chartership, for which we offer support and mentoring. The teams are involved in a diverse range of significant development and renewable energy projects throughout the UK and the Republic of Ireland. If you are successful, you will have the opportunity to further develop your skills and expertise, contributing to a wide range of exciting projects from mixed-use and urban re-development projects to Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects, onshore and offshore wind farms and strategic housing promotion and development.
Our approach to landscape planning and assessment includes a strong emphasis on iterative analysis and design, to inform developments as part of mitigation by design strategies, so there are also opportunities for creative input into schemes through landscape planning inputs.
About you
The focus of this position is primarily on LVIA related work, and we would consider applications from candidates with experience in this field for a senior position with a project management role, as well as applications for a graduate or landscape architect with enthusiasm to develop a career in LVIA, for which we are able offer on the job training and mentoring by experienced staff should this be required.
You must have excellent English language, strong report writing skills, be eligible to live and work in the UK and have a driving licence.
Our landscape teams have strong market presence across the UK. As such, this is an exiting time to join us and we can be flexible about which office you might wish to work in.
