Job Role: Workshop Manager/Production Manager

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Workshop Manager to join our specialist and experienced Building Services company working within the Energy, Food Processing and Pharmaceutical industries. We provide a unique service from concept, advising and partnering with our clients to ensure the correct mechanical and electrical solution bespoke to their needs.
As the Workshop Manager, your ability to lead and maintain quality and deliver the highest standards will be critical in the future of our manufacturing operations.
Role and Responsibilities:
1. Produce production schedules and program of works for the workshop
2. Liaise with onsite teams to ensure manufacturing requirements are achieved
3. Complete daily progress checks & communicate with workshop staff, office staff and site managers
4. Liaise and organise sub-contract activities required to complete the project, including interacting with third-party inspectors
5. Undertake engineering and prepare work packs and inspection test plans to issue for fabrication to the shop floor
6. Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance standards focused on consistently providing exceptional quality products and services
7. Study fabrication drawings to identify any potential issues with either materials or manufacturing
8. Increase the efficiency of existing processes and procedures to enhance manufacturing capacity
9. Ensure that operational activities remain on time and within budget
10. Monitor all productivity levels and output standards, and quality control requirements
11. Provide advice to the team in the production of detail drawings, as required, together with pre-production checking
12. Maintain and implement all the company's procedures, good working practices and policies, including health and safety, environment, and quality requirements/expectations
13. Manage and coordinate the raising of bills of material and purchase requisitions for materials, parts, and equipment, whilst liaising closely with the Site teams, Design Team and office staff
14. Create and execute daily, weekly, monthly, and annual production schedules
15. Report all relevant contract information to company directors
Requirements:
1. Experienced Workshop Manager - MIG/TIG/MMA pipe welding and fabrication
2. Strong management experience and a good leader of people
3. Knowledge of business productivity software and an aptitude for learning new applications
4. Deep understanding of production processes and related quality management systems
5. Workshop/Production management qualification or training essential (or equivalent technical qualification)
6. Strong skills in cost control
7. Qualification: MIG/TIG/MMA welding and pipe fitting background
8. Ability to understand and read isometrics, content of typical work packs
9. Qualification: ideal but not essential HNC/HND
10. Good Work Ethic, leadership and management qualities
11. Qualification: Leadership and Management Diploma
12. Excellent communication and report writing skills
13. Minimum of 2 years' experience in a significant knowledge of, and interest in, ISO9001 and processes
14. Internal auditing, compliance and maintenance of relevant standards, risk assessment experience, an understanding of and the ability to interpret quality related regulations
15. Excellent verbal, written and IT communication skills
16. Experience of quality management systems and process control
17. Hold a current CSCS card
18. Experience with RWL visual inspection
