The opportunity
We are looking for an ambitious and motivated personal tax specialist to join EY’s successful and dynamic Private Tax Team based in Scotland. The role includes working with a wide range of successful private businesses, providing a great opportunity to work in a client facing, ‘hands on’ role to deliver exceptional outputs and service to our clients. There will also be the opportunity to contribute to developing the practice, expanding networks and winning new business.
A personal tax specialist is sought for this role however candidates with a mixed personal and corporate tax background are also encouraged to apply given the wide and diverse nature of the role and team that you would be working in.
Your key responsibilities
1. Build and maintain relationships with clients
2. Proactive business development to win new work
3. Support of the successful delivery of technically complex and demanding consulting projects, ensuring technical excellence and practical / business focused approach taken
Skills and attributes for success
4. Technical and practical knowledge and experience in advising UK and non-UK domiciled individuals and families, in particular inheritance tax and trusts, capital gains and income tax.
5. Strategically and commercially aware
6. Strong client relationship management skills with ability to develop quality outputs to clients
7. Ability to solve the complex needs of your client
8. Effective time management, ability to remain calm when under pressure to meet deadlines
9. Excellent communicator in a range of situations both written and oral
10. Enthusiastic team player with ability to create, sustain and manage effective teams
11. Ensure delivery of quality work and take day to day responsibility of delivery team
To qualify for the role you must have
12. ACA / CA / Tax Inspectors with full Technical Training course / Law qualification / Tax specialist qualification / or breadth of knowledge equivalent to a Tax specialist qualification
13. Strong tax technical skills
14. Business development skills, be able to identify and convert opportunities to sell work
