Clervaux Garden School is an exciting and innovative provision which offers full-time education to children from 10-19 years who have significant/complex social, emotional or educational difficulties. The school provides an educational experience based on the National and Steiner Waldorf Curriculum, embedding the RMT practical skills therapeutic educational curriculum with accredited qualifications.
In this role, you will ensure the pupils of Clervaux Garden School engage in learning and achieve by providing practical, experiential, and therapeutic education through careful planning of the structure, methodology, and delivery of the learning experience.
You will be responsible for assisting with the delivery of teaching and learning for the students within Clervaux Garden School, supporting across the farm and gardens, and supporting the participants of the RISE program on a 100-acre land, farm, and garden, with a mixed range of farm animals. You will work with a small group of students and adults, delivering land-based qualifications, farm and horticulture, animal husbandry skills, and other land-based activities throughout the season, and be an active member of the farm and land team. You should feel comfortable and willing to work closely with all types of farm animals (in-house training/guidance will be given) and tractor-based work (external training provided for tractor, and internal guidance).
You must be able to instill enthusiasm and enjoyment into the learning process in such a way that can lead to increased self-esteem and enhanced engagement in learning.
Applicants for this post should have experience of working with young people and vulnerable adults with special needs, challenging behaviours, and mental health difficulties, or a willingness to work towards this. An appreciation of Biodynamic principles is required; however, training will be provided, as the applicant will take part in the Ruskin Mill Trust 2-year Biodynamic Training Programme.
