Waites Recruitment Consultancy are currently seeking a Quantity Surveyor who has experience in Refurbishment and fit outs, based in Leeds for a client on a Full time basis. My Client is an award winning refurbishment & fit out specialist based in Leeds, which is searching for a best in class Quantity Surveyor to join our growing business. We’re looking for a talented QS to join our team and help manage the commercial and financial aspects of exciting projects. What You’ll Be Doing: Reviewing and agreeing variations with clients and subcontractors. Preparing and processing payment applications. Keeping a close eye on project costs, cash flow, and margins. Supporting the team to ensure projects meet or exceed financial targets. Administering contracts and assisting in the management of project growth. Attending meetings and building relationships with clients and stakeholders.Identifying cost-saving opportunities and ways to improve processes. What You’ll Need: A degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or a related field. Around 5 years’ experience, ideally in the construction or offshore sector. A solid understanding of contracts and strong commercial awareness. Great communication and negotiation skills. A proactive attitude and the confidence to work with clients and subcontractors. Willingness to travel occasionally when needed. We are looking for someone with the following personal skills / experience; Leeds based with a clean UK driving licence Degree qualified as a quantity surveyor with a minimum of 3 years post graduate experience Experience of working within the industry in either construction / fit out Experience of independently managing all commercial aspects of projects Experience of managing both JCT / NEC (JCT experience is more preferential) Ambitious, motivated and driven attitude Positive, collaborative and non-adversarial approach to client / supply chain Experience estimating / pricing projects is preferred but not essential Excellent IT, commercial and communication skills Ability to within a busy team and under pressure Your duties will include: Commercially delivering a project from conception through to completion. Report on the commercial performance of projects to the board. Agreeing main contract sums. Negotiating contract terms with client / supply chain. Assessing and managing variations / claims. Managing project cash flow. Procuring materials and subcontractors. Managing subcontractor payments, variations and producing cost reports. Preparation of final accounts Recovery of retention Assisting Estimating team when required What’s in It for You?
