We have an exciting opportunity for a Retail Coordinator to join our Retail team to support our Retail Supervisors and senior managers. Retail at Chester Zoo covers our onsite shops and off-site locations, activities including face painting and hand art, central warehouse and our online gift shop.
The Retail Coordinator will be supporting the Retail Supervisor with administration and other designated duties in order to maximise sales, control costs and effectively lead and motivate a team to a world-class service and retail standards every day.
You will:
* Support the Retail Supervisor with a range of duties, including: staff briefings, scheduling and deployment, stock control, delivering training and maintaining records, and delivering any other duties as directed by the senior management team.
* Assist the Retail Supervisor in ensuring the team are adhering to all policies, operating procedures, and safe working practices, whilst adhering to all policies yourself and acting as a role model.
* Support the Retail Supervisor in ensuring that the permanent Retail Assistants are effectively mentoring and operating the ‘buddy’ system with our seasonal team.
* Carry out and lead cash handling, cashing up, opening, and closing of units and perform refunds, exchanges and ensure that all other cash security policies are always followed.

* Salary £25,109.15 per annum increasing to £25,862.42 from 01 April 2025.
* Working 40 hours per week, worked 5 days out of 7 on a rota basis including weekends and bank holidays.

Our requirements
* Someone who can lead and inspire a team in a range of disciplines in a retail environment.
* Experience of organising and coordinating the work of others.
* Experience of coaching and mentoring others to ensure effective and efficient work practices.
* Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to liaise to people at all levels, working with colleagues whose priorities may differ from yours.
* Computer literate with working knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft products.
* Good knowledge of Health & Safety processes.
