Job summary Our MSK teams are a friendly group of staff who aspire to offer the highest quality & effective care to patients. The support & work of our physiotherapy assistants is integral to this service delivery. Post 1 Jubilee House: will see the post holder working along side qualified physiotherapists & rehab instructor delivering high quality prescribed exercise programmes & group interventions. The role also supports patients to understand & access self management opportunities in the community by sharing relevant information & supporting onward referrals. Post 2 Hydrotherapy Service at Queen Alexandra Hospital: The successful candidate would be working alongside qualified Physiotherapy staff & Physiotherapy Assistants. This post offers a variety of work including directing patients on poolside & as required supporting their mobility needs & personal care such as dressing. The post also involves maintaining the poolside environment to a high level of safety & cleanliness. Once competent & trained the post holder will also undertake 1 to 1 clinical care in the pool & support group work activity. Training is offered to successful candidates in all areas of the work & both posts are integral in supporting the services with non clinical activities to help them run at full capacity & efficiency. Both posts are directly linked with the MSK at St Marys Community Campus. Main duties of the job Post 1 MSK outpatients: Work under the direction of qualified therapists to assist with treatment of patients including teaching & supervising exercise programmes & implementing treatment modalities as prescribed Work alongside physiotherapists & exercise rehab instructor to deliver group based exercise interventions Facilitate patients to access community services supporting their physical & mental health Assist with clerical, administration & non-clinical tasks as requested, including ordering supplies, cleaning equipment & photocopying/scanning Relieve professional staff of non-professional duties in the provision of the service within designated clinical teams Post 2 Hydrotherapy: Support patients in the pool to complete their hydrotherapy exercises as per the agreed plan prescribed by their physiotherapist Support physiotherapists in the pool to deliver group exercise interventions Meet & greet patients on arrival, being able to identify any medical or health concerns that need to be raised to the physiotherapist Support patients to attend hydrotherapy from any inpatient ward as appropriate Support patients on poolside with dressing, mobility & care needs As per COSHH standards, undertake pool chemistry testing & microbiology sample collection, ensuring the pool is running within required operational parameters Ensure poolside, changing area & waiting areas are prepared as appropriate for the day's activity Daily use of cleaning machine to maintain poolside cleanliness About us Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is a newly established organisation, bringing together expertise from across mental health, learning disabilities, community, and physical health services.
