Role Overview Act as a role model in interactions with Trust staff, patients, their carers, and the public, managing barriers to understanding. Support and reinforce values and standards of compassion and respect in care, demonstrating analysis and decision-making skills. Key Responsibilities Support the delivery of educational sessions to Nursing Assistants, providing a clinically and educationally excellent service that influences change within the organization. Promote adherence to relevant Trust policies and procedures during educational activities. Facilitate communication to define clear team responsibilities. Partnership and Collaboration Collaborate with staff from HEI and local colleges on the Nursing Assistant development pathway. Engage in annual appraisal processes, with the first appraisal occurring within six months of appointment. Education and Training Use advanced skills to negotiate and agree on competence levels. Network with colleagues to deliver varied education and training programs. Deliver training and clinical presentations to large and small groups, including occasional sessions for registered staff. Contribute to the design and delivery of teaching programs. Participate in quality assurance initiatives and clinical governance focused on the Nursing Assistant role. Assist in analyzing feedback from education programs and meetings to support the development of Nursing/Maternity Assistants. Skills Required Current NMC registration and experience in assessment and teaching. Minimum of 2 years post-registration experience, including 12 months in a Band 6 post. Ability to lead change and new ways of working. Planning and organizational skills to ensure evidence-based education programs are available. Dexterity for medical procedures and standard keyboard skills. Patient Care Responsibilities Act according to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct, accountable for clinical practice and professional actions. Promote high standards of fundamental care and ensure education is evidence-based. Advise on proper delegation of tasks to competent staff. Ensure high standards in clinical procedures. Act as a role model in delivering patient-centered, compassionate, and safe care, adhering to Trust values. Assess and develop care programs and competencies for nursing assistants. Support a culture of protecting patients' rights and ensuring continuous quality improvement.
