JOB SUMMARY
The Test Ops Support engineer is responsible for the supervision of test execution activities within the payload AIT facility. This role includes first-line support across all test phases and projects, providing test engineering and process support to shop floor operations. The Test Ops Support engineer will drive continuous improvements and the reduction of non-quality in the area of electrical and RF test operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Safety
Ensuring that test safety measures and procedures are adhered to during payload testing, including DC safety and High power RF safety. Involved in the definition and review of the standard bay layout. Ensure high standards of housekeeping are maintained across test activities and test equipment. Contribute to process confirmation within the operations team regarding the use, storage, and maintenance of test assets. Responsible for raising test-related safety issues within the SQCDP and FISH tools.
2. Disciplines
Enforce all cleanroom rules with anyone working in the cleanroom, such as Critical Move entry, mobile phones, food, etc. Monitor team discipline when working on assigned tasks and raise any issues with the operations team leader. The Test Operations support engineer is an extension of the Test Engineering team and is required to ensure that test processes are followed by the operations team, escalating any deviations or behavioral issues through the operations team.
3. Work Setting
Management of all cleanroom operational processes owned by the payload test team for all payload test phases. Work with the Lead Engineers to agree on the 'daily contract' of work to be carried out and highlight any difficulties based on resources, tools, and means. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency. Support the RF Lead in forward planning and ensure that paperwork and test aids are available. Drive testing locally in the cleanroom to ensure continuous and efficient task completion. Responsible for ensuring that the correct test aids are available for project test phases and for interfacing with the operations team at the shop floor level.
4. Reporting
Carry out a standard handover to the next Test Operations Support engineer to ensure key messages are understood, followed by a follow-up email. Liaise with RF Systems teams as needed to notify them of status and gain approval to move onto the next priority. Escalate issues via SQCDP meetings as required, and provide positive feedback to help develop shift team operators.
5. Quality
Ensure all tasks are carried out to the correct level of quality and escalate any issues to operations management. Participate in Practical Problem Solving (PPS) sessions to define root causes and escalate as required. The Test Ops Support engineer will support any improvement roadmap or objectives related to Test in the cleanroom.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Electrical and/or RF Engineering skills, experience in an Electrical Test environment, HND or Degree in Electrical/Electronic discipline, Electrical Test Engineering, or RF & Communications or equivalent. Experience in Aerospace, Communications, Automated Test Equipment development, strong Electrical/RF test measurement experience, and utilization of automated test systems, including ATE Test Hardware & Software development. COTS digital test equipment experience, problem-solving aptitude, and clear presentation skills are essential. Good time management skills to ensure the team is always working and tasks are ready for the next operator. Mentoring and coaching experience for team member development. Ability to understand technical documents, drawings, procedures, etc., and experience in procedure/process control.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE
Cleanroom experience, management and/or team leading experience with leadership abilities, conflict management skills, and experience in Electrical Test System Design/validation. Previous experience in telecoms payload testing.
