An opportunity has arisen to join the P&O Ferries team in Cairnryan, working 30 hours a week, supporting the leadership team to ensure that all aspects of the Port Operation (Freight & Tourist) are performed safely at all times, and in the most effective and efficient manner to meet the day-to-day requirements of the Port. Working across all areas of the Customer Operations Department, the role will support the Port in meeting the demands of the business whilst delivering a high standard of Customer Service.
Duties and responsibilities include:
1. To check-in and process all traffic (tourist and freight, accompanied and unaccompanied) through the Port of Cairnryan (including 3rd party contract).
2. Process tourist and freight traffic within agreed configurations for loading, check-in and special needs requirements utilising computerised check-in system and loading systems. (PHS & WIS)
3. To ensure the correct handling of hazardous cargo, high security and abnormal loads, liaising with ship’s officers regarding stowage.
4. To assist in maintaining an accurate count of passengers and vehicles, and accurately record deck allocations.
5. Release / Out-gate unaccompanied traffic through the Port.
6. Inspect potential damage claims, photograph and document, and provide comprehensive reports to Supervisors
7. Preparation of group boarding cards and tickets for embarkation ensuring they are appropriately sorted.
8. To board and disembark foot passengers using Company Vehicles subject to holding the relevant licence, and in accordance with Company and legislative requirements.
9. To be fully conversant with and able to implement when appropriate the manual fallback procedure
10. Assist in re-directing passengers in the event of disruptions to the service, and to contact booked passengers by phone and text in advance and divert to other sailings for all POIS routes and ports.
11. To handle initial complaints and queries from customers and provide comprehensive reports to Supervisors
12. To maintain cash float and accurately account for all ticket sales by cash, and credit/debit card.
13. Perform regular and accurate checks on company vehicles, equipment and IT, and report any faults to the Duty Supervisor, and where appropriate assist in the follow up and resolution.
14. To sell tickets to customers and when required, to take telephone, email and postal bookings.
