About the role:

* £25.79 p/h
* 37 hrs per week Monday to Friday
* Up to 6 months (possibility of extension)

Your focus:
The post holder will support the Heads of Service within the Economic Development function to plan, develop and deliver a full range of economic development, investment and regeneration initiatives aligned to the Council’s ambitious goals for economic growth. The post holder will be a key member of the wider economic development team responsible for the delivery of Council’s economic objectives, in accordance with Council Policy and the following Community Planning objectives:

Focused on attracting new investment and creating jobs for the borough, the Economic Development Manager will manage the delivery of a suite of programmes and projects including entrepreneurship support, skills and employability related activity, town and village regeneration, infrastructure and technology improvements and wider economic development activities. The manager will also lead the formulation of new bids to address needs and opportunities within the local economy such as the Shared Prosperity Fund/Levelling Up Fund.
What you'll need for this role:
* A degree in Business, Management, Economics, Town Planning, Planning, Urban Development, Finance, Regeneration or any other relevant qualification.
* OR consideration may be given to those candidates who do not hold the above academic qualifications but who can demonstrate a minimum of four years relevant experience as outlined below
* At least 2 years’ experience in an economic role to include all the following:
* Managing staff, contracts and budget for the achievement of economic development, investment or regeneration projects
* Managing programmes including the implementation, review and monitoring of large scale economic development initiatives.
* Developing strategy and implementing policy in a team working context.
* Experience of building strong and positive relationships with the business community and working with business organisations
* Good planning and project management skills.
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work on own initiative and prioritise workload to meet strict deadlines
* A working knowledge of economic development, investment attraction and strategic regeneration in a Northern Ireland context.
* Current working knowledge of funding opportunities within Northern Ireland, the UK region and further afield which are relevant to the economic growth of the borough.
* A working knowledge of social, economic, and political policies related to economic development.
* A full current driving licence valid in the UK and access to a vehicle OR have access to a form of transport that enables you to carry out the duties of the post
