We have an 8 hour a week freelance opportunity to deliver tutoring support in the community (Dorchester area) across 2 days (4 hours a day between 10am and 2pm) to several of our young people (ages 14 - 16). The level they are working towards is functional skills in English and Maths.
The booking is to start as soon as the right person is appointed until the end of June, and any offer of a ‘contract for services’ is subject to pre-employment checks including enhanced DBS, barring service checks, and references.
As an experienced and qualified Tutor, you should be self-motivated with a creative approach to the delivery of functional English and Maths skills and be able to work with our young people to support them in achieving their qualifications. Your ability to contextualise teaching and learning of English and Maths is essential, and to use innovative methods to make the delivery of these subjects’ fun and engaging.
We would like to hear from you if you are available within the hours stated above, and as a minimum, possess a teaching qualification L3 Education and Training, and have experience of delivering focused programmes in functional English and Maths skills. You will be able to provide regular feedback to the schools’ SLT against progress made and create effective plans for delivery of learning requirements.
You must also be able to travel independently to the Dorchester area and the hourly pay rate includes any planning / preparation / follow-up and travel time plus associated costs.
Hourly rate : £30 per hour, depending on experience.
Contract : Self-employed Contract for Services to the end of June.
Our school
Coombe House School is an independent special school that provides education for pupils aged 5 to 19 with SEMH and ASD and associated difficulties. All pupils on roll have an EHCP and the school uses a therapeutic approach to support pupils with their individual difficulties. Everything the school does is based on the formation and maintenance of positive relationships and viewing all behaviour as communication.
