Key Skills and Qualifications to succeed in this role:
Essential:
* Minimum 1 year’s experience in freight forwarding/import/export operations/shipping line.
* GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
* Strong communication and customer service skills.
* Familiarity with CNS, Destin8, and general Microsoft packages.
* Detail-oriented, organised, and able to manage workload independently.
* Understanding of Incoterms and container types.
Desirable:
* Experience with deep sea import shipments.
* Knowledge of IPAFFS, customs documentation, and industry procedures.
* A-Level / Degree level education (preferred but not essential).
* Proactive problem-solving mindset with critical thinking skills.
Key duties & Responsibilities:
* Coordinating deep sea import/export operations, working closely with internal teams and clients.
* Preparing import declarations using commercial invoices and packing lists.
* Communicating with overseas agents, shipping lines, hauliers, and warehouses.
* Managing carrier haulage bookings and tracking daily shipment progress.
* Liaising with customs and port health officials regarding documentation and inspections.
* Handling a variety of documentation including EUR1s, CofOs, CHEDs, and COIs.
* Maintaining accurate records, spreadsheets, and group inboxes.
* Using systems like CNS and Destin8 to process and manage data.
