Objective of Role
We're looking for someone to head up our data department, based from our Shoreditch or our Worcestershire office, with some flexibility over hybrid working.
Reporting to the COO and Co-Founder, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of data management, modelling, profiling, analytics, and reporting to ensure that our clients' direct mail campaigns can deliver data correctly and on time to the mailing house as specified in the scope. You will be the driving force behind expanding the company's data capabilities and continuously looking for new revenue opportunities and cost-saving initiatives, such as minimising the need for external data sources. Maintaining and enriching internal datasets is a key priority.
Job Role & Responsibilities
1. Data Management:
o Oversee the collection and storage of data that comes into the business.
o Ensure client data is fit for purpose and delivered in a timely manner.
o Request further data as required.
o Maintain robust data validation and reconciliation processes to ensure data integrity.
2. Preparing Mailing Files:
o Preparing data for mailing, including sense check of client data, PAF, suppression and cleansing prior to safe delivery to the mailing house for sending.
o This may include generating and adding unique offer codes, QR codes, etc and/or unique identifiers to make it easier to track responses.
3. Creation, Management and Housekeeping of PSE Data:
o Process updates to internal datasets promptly.
o Continuously improve and streamline the update process for efficiency.
o Source additional data to enable better profiling, modelling, and campaign performance reporting.
o Creation of a single customer view database and on-going maintenance.
4. Data Analysis and Reporting:
o Analyse campaign data to identify trends, insights, and optimisation opportunities.
o Collaborate with Client Strategy and Account Management teams to create comprehensive campaign performance reports, including key metrics and ROI analysis.
o Present clear findings and actionable recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders.
5. Campaign Strategy and Optimisation:
o Work closely with the Client Strategy and Account Management teams to develop data-driven direct mail campaign strategies.
o Provide expert advice on using available data to achieve campaign objectives.
o Use predictive analytics and modelling to enhance targeting and segmentation.
o Continuously monitor campaign data and optimise performance based on insights.
6. Team Leadership and Development:
o Lead, mentor, and develop a team of data analysts and data scientists.
o Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and curiosity within the team.
o Set clear goals, KPIs, and performance expectations.
7. Data Integration and Technology:
o Manage data integration from multiple sources, including CRM systems, third-party databases, and client data.
o Evaluate, implement, and improve data analytics tools and technologies.
o Ensure adherence to data privacy regulations and best practice compliance.
8. Client Engagement and Support:
o Act as clients' primary point of contact on all data and analytics matters.
o Provide expert support and consultative advice to clients.
o Build and nurture strong client relationships, ensuring a deep understanding of their business needs and objectives.
Key Attributes
* Degree in a relevant field (mathematics, science, data analytics, or similar).
* Highly numerical with strong analytical skills.
* Previous marketing campaign analysis and data modelling experience
* Previous experience of producing customer data files for DM
* Ability to communicate and explain complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
* Strong problem-solving attitude and resourceful approach.
* Track record of building propensity models that improve marketing performance.
* Experience with Microsoft Power BI or similar analytics platforms.
* Meticulous attention to detail and ability to manage multiple workstreams.
* Passion and energy for direct marketing and data-driven decision-making.
* Strong self-awareness, communication, and interpersonal skills.
