Druglink are looking for a Grants and Fundraising Officer to increase funding streams, identify, apply for and secure grants and other funding opportunities to support the charity to carry out its objectives and grow opportunities for developing new and existing projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for researching potential funders, developing compelling grant proposals, and cultivating relationships with donors and grant-making institutions. They will raise funds from community fundraising, developing key income streams including major donors, regular giving and corporate support. The post holder will hold a strategic over view of Druglink’s grants and fundraising needs and will build strong relationships with donors, as well as contributing to funding strategy and operations. Job title: Grants and Fundraising Officer Reports to: Director of Communications and Development Type of contract: Permanent/ full time Location: Hemel Hempstead office Salary: Available on request THE ROLE AND RESPONSIBLITIES Working alongside the Director of Communications, develop a strategic plan to guide grants and fundraising activities and revenue generation. GRANT WRITING AND RESEARCH Research and identify new grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, local authorities, corporate donors and other relevant sources. Write, prepare and submit grant proposals and letters of enquiry. Collaborate with service teams to gather data and information for grant proposals. Prepare and submit timely, detailed reports to grant funders, outlining how funds were used, project outcomes and program impact. Maintain a calendar of grant deadlines, submissions and reporting requirements. Work closely with the finance team to ensure accurate tracking of funds and compliance with grant requirements. Ensure that all grant funds are used in accordance with donor specifications and organisational policies. FUNDRAISING STRATEGY AND ACTIVITY Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy in alignment with organisational goals. Manage, support and develop fundraising activities, including campaigns, donor engagement and event activities. Produce appeals, marketing materials and digital content for fundraising campaigns. Grow and sustain income from individual donors. Develop and broaden corporate fundraising support. Identify and research potential donors and work alongside the Director of Communications and Development to build relationships with potential donors. Develop and coordinate web-based fundraising, working alongside the Marketing and Communications Officer to include social media and website activity. Plan, implement and measure the impact of donor engagement strategies, adjusting strategies as needed. Report on fundraising outputs or the impact of fundraising initiatives. Deliver presentations to interested groups and attend relevant events. Ensure all fundraising activity is in keeping with the Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Fundraising Practice and is compliant with fundraising regulations. Ensure all fundraising activity is in keeping with Druglink’s values and guidelines. Keep up-to-date with trends in fundraising opportunities and recommend strategy changes. Stay abreast of fundraising good practice and legislation, ensuring compliance with the Charities Act and the Institute of Fundraising and FRSB codes of practice. Network with other fundraisers and charity staff when possible. SUPPORTER ENGAGEMENT AND MANAGEMENT Develop a donor journey that encourages long term support. Process donations, including recording donations, thanking supporters in a timely fashion and responding to ad hoc supporter queries. Ensure high quality ongoing communication to maintain and develop relationships with potential and existing donors, with the aim of increasing long term giving. Organise annual supporter engagement event. Support public/ corporate supporters in their initiatives to raise funds for Druglink. Record all donor contact details and activity on Druglink database. Ensure all personal data is gathered, held and used in-line with data protection regulation. FLEXIBILITY Undertake such other responsibilities as you may from time to time be requested to work on. It is a small team and staff are occasionally called upon to support the work of others. This is a part time, permanent role that may involve some evening and weekend work where events are involved. PERSON SPECIFICATION Essential skills Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with the proven ability to write and produce engaging communications for a range of channels and audiences. Experience of developing fundraising campaigns with measurable outcomes. Experience organising fundraising events. Experience working at a charity or other non-profit organisation. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with a wide range of people at all levels internally and externally. Experience building strong and effective relationships with donors and supporters. Ability to write persuasive content to encourage support. Ability to work proactively using own initiative, prioritise work and meet deadlines, with well-developed time management skills. Flexible approach, skilled at working in a fast-paced environment and juggling multiple priorities. Ability to work collaboratively and sensitively with staff, customers and clients. Able to work within a team, taking into account the needs and perspectives of others. Desirable skills Awareness and empathy of problems related to substance misuse. Passion for what Druglink do and the changes that we are making for people who are, or could be, affected by substance misuse. Experience and competency using IT packages, shared online drives, web content management systems. Understanding of data protection regulations.
