Tes is supporting the appointment of a Science Teacher to join a Academy based in Redcar and Cleveland.
This is a permanent Academy contract. This will be maternity cover for 2024/25. There may be a need, subject to curriculum demand at Normanby in September 2025, for the successful candidate to undertake a short spell of science teaching at a neighbouring Academy, until a suitable long term post arises at Normanby.

The Academy is looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and inspiring classroom practitioner with a real passion for Science. They offer an exciting opportunity to join their Science department which is an enthusiastic and supportive team.
An excellent knowledge and understanding of the subject is essential. They are keen to instil a love of learning within their students and strive for constant improvement. Each member of their department works collaboratively to produce good teaching and learning resources to reduce your workload and allow you to have the utmost confidence when teaching outside of your scientific specialism.
If you join their team you will be teaching in a laboratory which is fully equipped with specialised equipment and managed by their two experienced technicians who will help you make all of your lessons engaging and exciting.
As a subject teacher you will be required to complete the professional duties that are expected of a UK qualified Teacher in accordance with academy policies and procedures and your subject specialism.
You should promote the achievement of high standards through effective teaching and learning within your subject area, including the preparation, application and development of lesson resources in alignment with the curriculum, as directed by your department head and senior leaders within the academy.
You will be responsible for effective classroom management and the coordinator of class work with any classroom support staff that are present. You must evaluate lessons and incorporate student views and responses to reflect and identify areas of development.
Applicants must hold UK QTS, if trained overseas, have the relevant evidence that your qualification equates to UK QTS.
