Insurance Officer – Closing date 12.01.2025
Permanent/Full time – 37 hours per week
Salary from £36,825 to £39,780 pa depending on skills, qualification and experience
We are looking for an experienced officer to be the council’s insurance specialist. Ensuring sufficient insurance protection, you will be responsible for offering risk management advice to Council staff. Working alongside our Business Support Team, you will support officers in managing legal claims, including providing assistance with court preparation, along with:
* Administering the insurance lot program, including for engineering and motor, employing necessary software or programmes as required.
* Supporting the preparation of statistical reports on claim trends for management, and representing the department in relevant meetings with other services or external stakeholders.
* Providing updates on relevant legislative changes related to risk management and insurance in the public sector to Corporate Directors, Members, and officers.
* Assisting in developing and implementing internal policies, guidelines, and procedures related to insurance.
* Providing claims information to services and departments to aid risk management decisions and inform settlement/repudiation strategies.
In order to excel in this role, it is essential that you have sound knowledge and recent experience in the work areas described:
* Experience of working in an insurance role for a multi-objective organisation.
* Legislation knowledge relating to insurance.
* Knowledge of claims handling techniques.
* Good understanding of IT software.
* Excellent written skills with attention to detail.
