A unique opportunity has arisen for a Senior Systems Designer within Thales OME, with the possibility of being based in Reading or Glasgow. Depending on the project requirements, some travel may be necessary to other Thales sites, customer locations, or integration and test facilities.
As a Senior Systems Designer, you will contribute significantly to systems engineering design activities throughout the project lifecycle, including:
* Defining system requirements for products
* Creating comprehensive design documentation capturing systems engineering designs
* Establishing internal and external system interfaces
* Developing test procedures to verify system functionality
* Conducting integration and verification testing against established test procedures
* Ensuring evidence is gathered to demonstrate achievement of system requirements
The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication skills and be proactive, with:
* Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
* Expertise in defining system interfaces, boundaries, and external factors
* Knowledge of extracting user needs and wants from design briefs
* Ability to ensure systems are fit for purpose in their operating environment
Bonus points if the candidate also possesses:
* Experience decomposing system designs into sub-system levels
* Understanding of systems modeling techniques
* Ability to analyze potential solutions against key design brief needs
* Experience applying design analysis techniques (trade-off analysis, calculations, modeling, and simulation)
This role will report directly to the Discipline Manager for Systems Engineering.
In accordance with Thales' Baseline Security requirements, candidates will be asked to provide evidence of identity, eligibility to work in the UK, and employment/education history for up to three years. Some vacancies may require full Security Clearance, which can necessitate additional evidence.
