Job overview
We are looking to recruit an experienced band 7 midwife to join our Governance team as the Lead Midwife for Audit and Effectiveness. If you are an experienced & NMC registered midwife who has an NMC PIN number and would like to make a difference to women and their families, then we would like to hear from you. Main duties of the job
* To lead the maternity services programme of multidisciplinary audit developing action plans for the improvement of clinical practice and care for women.
* To work in collaboration with the maternity multidisciplinary team to develop specialist programmes of audit annually.
* To ensure our audit methods and programme remain contemporary and reflect the needs of the women, their babies and the maternity service.
* To lead, conduct and co-ordinate locally and across the Trust the local and national audits taking place within the maternity services.
* To act as the recognised source of midwifery audit information and expertise for the service.
* To engage and ensure participation of all clinicians for example nursery nurses, midwives, student midwives, midwifery support workers, doctors in training, obstetricians, neonatologists, anaesthetists and other allied healthcare professionals in clinical audits by establishing and maintaining effective communication links.

Education/ Qualifications
Essential criteria
* Practicing midwife active on the NMC register
* Audit qualification or evidence of significant knowledge and experience of audit
Desirable criteria
* Quality improvement training

* Excellent communication skills
* Full understanding of audit and methodologies
Desirable criteria
* Quality improvement theory and techniques
* Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written
Experience/ Knowledge
Essential criteria
* Relevant and recent post registration midwifery experience
* Experience of leading and developing audit initiatives
