Purpose and Scope TGS 4C Offshore are looking for a proactive, highly organised, Marine Cable Installation Specialist to join their team of route engineers. As a Marine Cable Installation specialist, you will work as a member of the route engineering team, seeing projects through from initial feasibility studies to marine survey and beyond the installation phase to maintenance and decommissioning. Your role is instrumental to ensure reliable and efficient service to clients developing power projects. By contributing to the installation process of worldwide power networks you will play a part in shaping the future of international infrastructure. Key Responsibilities Installation Management Support • Conduct thorough reviews of documentation, schedules, and reports. • Provide technical contributions to EPC tender documentation. • Assess vessel and burial tool suitability for cable installation. • Liaise with and oversee installation contractors. • Prepare reports and presentations summarizing results and recommendations. • Participate in client and contractor meetings, including HIRA and KOM. Route Design Engineering • Plan and design remedial cable protection measures. • Oversee BAS (Burial Assessment Study) and CBRA (Cable Burial Risk Assessment). • Develop crossing designs in collaboration with clients and contractors. • Conduct cable burial reviews on existing assets. • Assist in desktop feasibility studies. • Analyze bathymetric, geophysical, and geotechnical data to evaluate seabed conditions and potential hazards. Obligations • Undertake vessel, site, or client office visits as required. • Stay updated on submarine cable engineering principles, industry standards, and best practices. • Represent the company at exhibitions and conferences. • Provide technical input for tendering processes. Key Competencies • Technical Expertise: o Degree in Geoscience, Engineering, or a related subject. o Extensive experience with installation methods and tooling. o Minimum 10 years’ experience in marine construction, particularly in cable or pipeline installation. o Proficiency in GIS and strong IT literacy skills. • Project Management and Problem-Solving: o Demonstrated ability to manage complex installation projects and ensure contractor compliance. o Analytical skills to assess seabed conditions, identify hazards, and develop remedial strategies. • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: o Strong written and oral communication skills for effective reporting and client engagement. o Excellent interpersonal skills to foster collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
