Role Summary
The post holder will work collaboratively to produce and deliver process development training and outreach programmes to support future medicines such as cell and gene therapies, biopharmaceuticals and vaccines. They will be responsible for building training protocols and delivery of training using hands on methods and digital tools including VR/AR, supporting educators, industry and NHS.
This role is based within the College of Medical and Dental Sciences and plays a vital role in developing and delivering innovative process development training, assessment and outreach approaches for a University Centre working in a UK consortium.
The post holder will possess an understanding of dynamic training needs for diverse learner groups, as well as strong interest in developing new ways of thinking in training delivery and training data analysis, to enable growth of the medicines manufacturing workforce and NHS.
Main Duties
1. Deliver training to a range of target audiences including NHS staff, industry and life sciences students.
2. Maintain and update content for existing courses run at our National Training Centre.
3. Be the Centre lead and contribute to a national strategy for digital course delivery using VR/MR and online tools.
4. Work closely with the project team to develop content for future training courses.
5. Manage training-related administrative processes, including registration and onboarding of trainees.
6. Manage a bank of training materials, ensuring that access is granted in line with project terms.
7. Act as principal point of contact and maintain relationships with affiliate members and partners involved in training delivery.
8. Deliver training content to targeted groups of 10 - 25 and prepare findings for publication, seminars etc.
9. Collect performance data; this may be through a variety of research methods.
10. Analyse and interpret feedback from training sessions to further develop and improve content.
11. Oversee students/trainees on the training programme and provide guidance.
12. Contribute to developing new teaching platforms, content, and methods.
13. Present National Training Centre outputs, including drafting academic publications.
14. Independently troubleshoot problems that may affect the achievement of the Centre objectives.
15. Promote equality and values diversity acting as a role model.
16. Liaise with providers of manufacturing platforms central to ATMP production.
17. Act as a main point of contact and maintain relationships with key industry stakeholders.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience
You will need to evidence:
1. First Degree (or equivalent qualification) in life science or engineering discipline.
2. Higher degree in a relevant discipline.
3. Strong interest in digital technology for education, skills, training and outreach.
You will be/have:
1. Experienced in regulated research or in clinical regulated environments.
2. Experienced in laboratory working with technical expertise in cell processing/culture.
3. Experienced in digital technology such as VR/MR.
4. Experience in/knowledge of medicines manufacture is preferred.
5. High level analytical capability.
6. Ability to communicate complex information clearly.
7. Ability to assess resource requirements and use resources effectively.
8. Understanding of broader management/administration processes.
9. Ability to co-ordinate own work with others.
Planning and Organising
You will be required to manage and prioritise a varied and complex workload to deliver within required time frames.
Problem Solving and Decision Making
You will be working under the direction of a senior manager, but with considerable autonomy to deliver the outputs required.
Internal and External Relationships
This role will be liaising with internal colleagues and stakeholders, external stakeholders as well.
