This role has a starting salary of £14.86 per hour (comprising £12.93 per hour plus £1.93 holiday entitlement) We are excited to be hiring new staff for our Open Water Safety Team to join the Surrey Outdoor Learning and Development team (SOLD). Our Open Water swimming sessions take place at Thames Young Mariners at our centre based in Ham, near Richmond / Kingston. Sessions take place on weekday evenings within the hours of 4.30pm - 8.30pm and weekend mornings 7.30am - 11.30am, (usually 3 hour shifts). Days of the week vary depending on the tide. About the Role Would you like a flexible role working with a dedicated group who love to deliver safe swimming sessions to the general public at our beautiful site at Thames Young Mariners in Ham? You may already be an experienced lifeguard and/or a current instructor with knowledge of how outdoor learning can benefit all aspects of personal and social development. We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic team to deliver and run open water swimming sessions at our tidal lake attached to the River Thames, and help keep our swimmers safe. The main duties of the role will include setting up sessions, registration and session safety. Other potential opportunities at the site may also be available pending training and skills set. Shortlisting Criteria To be considered for shortlisting for this position your application will clearly evidence the following: Previous personal swimming experience At least an outdoor National Governing Body (NGB) qualification which could include: RLSS Lifeguard Qualification (Pool, Beach or Open Water), Open Water Level 2 Swim Coach, Paddle UK Swimmer Safety and Rescue Course, Aquatic Safety Qualification, British Canoeing Paddlesports Instructor or equivalent A current first aid qualification is essential Please note, Surrey Outdoor Learning and Development will also consider candidates who have other outdoor NGBs but are keen to take on this role.
