We are looking for a passionate Functional Skills Coach to join our team and play a pivotal role in helping learners succeed in English and maths as part of their apprenticeship.
Role Overview
As a Functional Skills Coach, you will deliver engaging and impactful teaching in English and maths up to Level 2, guiding apprentices towards successful completion of their Functional Skills qualifications. You’ll work closely with learners, tailoring your teaching to their individual needs while also providing additional learning support when required. You'll also work collaboratively with the Line Manager and Head of Operations to ensure excellence in programme delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver high-quality English and maths teaching up to Level 2 for apprentices.
* Create personalised learning programmes that help apprentices develop skills, knowledge, and behaviours valuable to their employers.
* Provide focused additional learning support for learners who need it.
* Use a range of innovative teaching techniques and resources that suit individual learner needs.
* Manage a caseload of learners efficiently, ensuring timely progression.
* Collaborate with your Line Manager to enhance the quality of English and maths delivery within the apprenticeship programme.
* Maintain accurate and timely records using online remote delivery platforms.
Person Specification
Essential
* Secure and consistent subject knowledge in a Functional Skills/work-related environment.
* Experience in delivering Functional Skills to a high standard.
* Minimum Level 3 qualification in English or maths specialism.
* L3 Teaching award in education & training (or equivalent).
* Ability to manage workload and caseload effectively.
* Excellent relationship management skills with learners, team members, and management.
* Strong communication skills across various mediums (verbal, written, ICT).
Desirable
* In-depth understanding of Ofsted’s Education Inspection Framework.
* Previous experience working with learners who have additional needs.
* Experience in developing teaching resources for both face-to-face and remote delivery.

* Highly organised, able to set targets and manage time efficiently.
* Strong drive and enthusiasm for improving apprenticeship programmes.
