Prospero Teaching are recruiting individuals to work as Teaching Assistants on a flexible supply basis at a specialist High school in Tameside. This role is suited for those who cannot commit to full-time work or would like the flexibility of choosing their own shifts to work around other commitments.
The school caters to children aged 11-16 years old with moderate and complex learning difficulties, as well as those on the autism spectrum. Students receive a tailored curriculum best suited to their needs and abilities, and the school offers a fantastic approach to learning.
As an Ad-Hoc Teaching Assistant, you will be placed where needed on that particular day and will uphold all the usual duties of a Teaching Assistant. We encourage those working on flexible supply to demonstrate eagerness, confidence, and the ability to use initiative based on experience.
The role will consist of:
1. Liaising with your consultant at the beginning of the week to agree on availability for shifts that week and being on standby from 7am for morning calls regarding available work.
2. Providing tailored support while working with children and SEN.
3. Creating a safe environment that allows children to have fun, learn, and succeed.
4. Providing academic support on a 1:1 basis or in small groups.
5. Assisting the teacher.
The ideal candidate should:
1. Demonstrate the necessary nurturing qualities required to work closely with SEN children.
2. Ideally have previous experience caring for those with additional needs.
3. Possess a Teaching Assistant qualification, which is ideal but not essential.
