Adult Critical Care Specialist

St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton (SJHH) is inviting applications for the Locum tenens position of Adult Staff Intensivist for one year. The position will involve a guarantee of 12-weeks of clinical service with additional opportunities that may arise throughout the appointment.
As a multi-site, tertiary care, academic and research health care organization, St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton (SJHH) strives to care for patients and families in a spirit of compassion and commits to making a difference in people's lives through innovative health services and internationally recognized programs. The Critical Care Service is a busy service that cares for patients within a large level 3 Medical-Surgical Intensive Care and level 2 Medical Step Down Units, an active Critical Care Response Team, as well as providing consultative services throughout the hospital. The Physician group consists of eighteen physicians who provide comprehensive care for all patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit and Medical Step Down Unit.
Applicants must have a Fellowship in Critical Care Medicine with certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent training and be eligible for licensure in the Province of Ontario.
This is a Locum tenens appointment for one year beginning July 1, 2025. The ideal candidate would have a keen interest in education and evidence of excellence in teaching in an academic environment. The successful applicant will lead the inter-professional critical care team during clinical weeks as attending ICU physician with strong interpersonal and communication skills. The candidate will also participate in the Critical Care Response Team.
The successful candidate will be required to hold a clinical appointment in the Department of Critical Care at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. Academic responsibilities include clinical education and supervision on the Critical Care service of all levels of medical learners, residents, physician assistants and students. If the successful candidate does not currently hold a Faculty appointment and is unable to obtain one in a timely fashion, all academic activities will be supervised by a McMaster Faculty member to ensure the accreditation standards for Undergraduate and Postgraduate medicine are met.
