Based in the Benefits Team between the Civic Centre, Motherwell and home on our hybrid working model, you will assist the Revenue & Benefits Manager in the supervision of the Benefits Team to provide an efficient and effective service to the public and the Authority to achieve quality and value for money in service provision.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Leading a team responsible for the administration and processing of claims in relation to Housing Benefit, Universal Credit, Council Tax Reduction, Free School Meals and Clothing Grant claims and Blue Badge applications.
2. Utilising and developing the integrated Open Revenues system.
3. Participating in ad hoc projects and departmental initiatives related to these benefits.
With an HNC/SVQ3 or equivalent in a relevant field, it is essential that you have significant experience working in a pertinent sphere of operations, e.g., local taxation/benefits service and dealing with the public, and have moderate experience of managing a team.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, excellent communication, literacy and numeracy skills, and an understanding of benefit/local taxation related initiatives and legislation are all considered essential qualities.
An IRRV Benefits Technician or equivalent qualification and experience of developing strategies and policies would be desirable.
The successful candidates will be subject to a criminal records check provided by Disclosure Scotland.
