FCW Group offers an exciting and unique opportunity for apprenticeship candidates to start their career within their highly successful and growing organisation, as a Panel Technician Apprentice.
Apprenticeships at FCW Group offer a great opportunity to open the pathway for a life-longcareer in the accident repair industry. We are recruiting for a new apprentice to join our dynamic team in Twickenham.
You will start your apprenticeship as a trainee technician gaining a Level 3 qualification in Panel. You will be based at our accident repair centre in Twickenham gaining practical skills and work experience, learning while you earn, mentored by a senior qualified technician.
To start an apprenticeship with us, you need to:
1. Be at least 16 years old
2. Be willing to work Monday to Friday 08:00 - 17:00
3. Be prepared to commit to your apprenticeship for 3 years
4. Have Grade 4 or above in both Maths and English (double) or Functional Skills Level 2
You will:
1. Work five days a week
2. Be provided with a uniform, starter kit, health & wellbeing support and experienced mentor
3. Complete online e-learning where applicable
An apprenticeship Standard at the preferred Training provider will always include:
1. A Level 3 qualification (assessed on the job)
2. A technical certificate issued by a registered training provider upon completion
3. Functional Skills (English and Maths) support where needed
4. Employee rights and responsibilities
Objectives:
1. Working under direct supervision at all times to achieve full competence and qualification.
2. Accurately and skilfully assess all aspects of the motor vehicle body repair.
3. Detect and diagnose any additional faults for further repair.
4. Ensure all work is completed safely and complies with manufacturer and British Standard industry guidelines.
5. Identify and evaluate condition of safety related systems and any action required, applying H&S car related current legislation to do so (e.g. air bags, tyres etc).
6. Differentiating between items that need repairing and items that need replacement.
7. Apply accurate and appropriate opinion times for method and duration for repair.
8. Assess the cost and duration of a repair.
9. Discuss damage and repairs with a range of stakeholders (vehicle owners, insurance companies, colleagues and managers), listening to their view, responding to concerns and negotiating using evidence based reasoning.
10. Assess the current market value of vehicle using industry proprietary guides.
11. Obtain authorisation from the Client/Customer to proceed with repair to a vehicle and confirm the cost of the repair (if appropriate for the workplace).
12. Interpret and accurately apply estimating software system.
