Quality, Governance and Risk Health Care Scientist Lead

The department of Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering is accredited to ISO 9001:2015. The department consists of two main sections of Clinical Engineering and Clinical Physics. The Kent and Medway Communication and Assistive Technology (KM CAT) service and Medical Devices Governance Team come under Clinical Engineering. Radiology Physics and Nuclear Medicine Physics are under Clinical Physics.
As a lead Health Care Scientist for Governance and Quality, you will have the overall responsibility for all quality and governance matters related to the department of Medical Physics.
Main duties of the job
1. Direct and lead the team in ensuring effective and efficient operation and ongoing registration and certification of the quality system within the department of Medical Physics.
2. Provide specialist knowledge so as to ensure the Trust's Medical Physics become progressively more effective in the delivery of quality Medical Physics services.
3. Be the responsible officer for all aspects of quality, standards and governance within the department.
4. Secure compliance with internal policies and external bodies.
5. Act as the responsible officer for provision of all departmental policies and procedures.
6. Act as the risk manager for the department.
7. Provide training in quality management.
8. Professionally manage deputy quality manager and line manage quality and governance officer.
9. Support the department in progressing quality improvement projects in engineering or physics projects depending on the background and experience of the candidate.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
* A degree, or equivalent in Health Care Science topics, and/or Quality Management.
* Member of IPEM IEng registration, or chartered scientist or registered scientist.
* A Higher degree, MSc or equivalent, in a relevant engineering or physics.
Clinical Skills and Experience
* At least 5 years' experience as a quality systems manager or quality representative in the private or public sector.
* Minimum 3 years of experience as a senior health care scientist.
* Evidence of leading the formation or management of a quality system.
* Ability to produce detailed and accurate written reports.
* Ability to use Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
* Ability to work accurately and quickly, applying scientific methods to resolve complex problems.
* Ability to demonstrate organisation and prioritisation.
* Ability to demonstrate communication at all levels.
* Ability to demonstrate management and leadership.
* Ability to demonstrate dealing with conflict.
* Ability to demonstrate problem solving.
* Ability to demonstrate training.
* Ability to demonstrate highly developed manual dexterity.
* Ability to demonstrate making accurate, precise measurements using sophisticated testing equipment.
* Ability to concentrate on complex problems for prolonged periods when frequently subjected to unpredictable working patterns.
* Experience of risk management and governance.
