Hours - 37.5 hours Working pattern - 52 weeks per year Salary depending upon experience- £45,518.00 rising to £49,668.00 (Grade 5) Location - Inscape House School, Cheadle, Stockport Contract : Permanent Closing Date : 10th December 2024
Aim of the Role; We are seeking an Art Teacher within Inscape House school which is our specialist day school for children and young people aged 5 to 19 years on the autistic spectrum. The ideal candidate will ensure that the teaching and learning of the art curriculum across the school is of a consistent and high quality. They will support teachers of art with their subject content knowledge and pedagogy and take accountability for the progress of art across the school.
Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults is a priority for all employees
Key Responsibilities;
* Lead on a Art across the school from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 5.
* Develop or support the production of Schemes of Work and resources to support the delivery of your subject curriculum across all Key Stages
* Teach the Art National Curriculum, (which could include working towards Entry Level, Arts Award, GCSE or A-Level) to students in Key Stages 1, 2, 3, 4 or Post 16.
* Adapt the teaching of curricula to meet the varying learning needs of pupils with Autistic Spectrum Conditions
* Use progress data to monitor progress, set targets and plan subsequent lessons.
* Give pupils regular feedback, both orally and through accurate marking, and encourage pupils to respond to the feedback.
* To provide feedback and advice to staff and members of the multidisciplinary team regarding the assessment and treatment of a pupils physical, functional, cognitive, sensory and perceptual abilities. This includes psychosocial needs.
* To provide feedback to parents, carers and external agencies, as consented by the pupil or their advocate(s).

What you will need to succeed;
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
* Have a secondary teaching qualification with a specialism in Art.
* Experience of working with children who have autism and communication difficulties co-morbid with learning difficulties, ADHD, Mental health and/or sensory processing issues
* A strong commitment to working co-operatively with parents.
* Knowledge of approaches/methodologies that can support children with autism e.g. TEACCH, Attention Autism and SPELL.
* Knowledge and understanding of the National Curriculum and the demands it places on children with additional needs.
* High Level of personal resilience
* Knowledge of Safeguarding and Keeping Children Safe in Education
