The Clinical Engineering Department are looking to recruit a Clinical Engineer.
The Clinical Engineering Department provides a Medical Equipment Management service for the Kingston Hospital. NHS Foundation Trust.
The post holder will form part of a team maintaining medical equipment across the trust and is required to work within the requirements of the Department of Health regulations, Care Quality Commission Standards, Trust employment policies and the Trust policy for the management of medical devices to a high standard of safety and accountability.
Main duties of the job
The post holder liaises and works closely with other Healthcare Professionals, manufacturers, representatives, engineers, and other technical staff to provide applications advice, device evaluation, acceptance testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, calibration and maintenance of a diverse range of diagnostic, therapeutic and point of care testing equipment, ensuring it functions correctly, is within calibration limits and safe for patient and staff use.
The post holder may be required to participate in the emergency on-call rota when required.

The post requires the post holder to have a knowledge and skills in the Electrical/Electronic engineering disciplines, a comprehensive knowledge of physiological measurements and the in-depth knowledge and skills to specialize in the clinical/technical services that require greater support and instruction in the application and management of complex medical devices.

Job responsibilities
The post holder is responsible for working in clinical or technical (workshop) areas to carry out scheduled preventative maintenance, servicing, repair, calibration, safety and acceptance testing. The Post holder should have the ability to work independently and will liaise with clinical, technical and supplier staff to identify faults and repair a wide range of medical equipment and is required to work to high standards of safety and accountability. The post will adhere to any training guidance created for the training pathway to senior level and the core of the post is to supply technical expertise at the department level acting as key person for problem solving within the trust for medical devices. The option to repair the machinery both electrical and mechanical for a complete in-depth PPM task needs to be considered for part of this role.

Qualifications
* Qualification in .Electrical /electronic engineering .Biomedical engineering .mechanical engineering .IT Diploma Or equivalent + relevant medical engineering courses
* Excellent communication skills for dealing with people.
* Excellent technical knowledge Knowledge of health and safety awareness and safe working practices.
* Good broad knowledge of medical device operation and management.
Skills
* A willingness to keep up to date with scientific, engineering and medical research.
* Able to lift low to medium heavy weights Intermediate IT skills. Able to use Word, Excel, PowerPoint at a basic level.
