McLaughlin & Harvey is a leading building and civil engineering contractor operating throughout the UK and Ireland We are looking for an experienced Submissions Technical Manager to join our civil engineering preconstruction team. Our civil engineering department undertakes a wide range of projects ranging from £5m to £150m. As Civils Technical Manager, you will become a valued member of an experienced and successful preconstruction team. In this role you will develop construction methodologies, programmes and quality submission responses to support winning tenders for the Civil Engineering division. You will work with experienced submissions managers and estimators to prepare comprehensive and high-scoring tender submissions. You will liaise with internal teams, designers, subcontractors and suppliers to develop comprehensive construction stage proposals. You will also attend post tender interviews, presenting construction sequencing and methodology to Client teams. Responsibilities The successful candidate will work as part of an existing team delivering high quality tender submissions. Role includes, but is not limited to: Reviewing client tender documents to identify opportunities to optimise construction methodology, programme and design solutions Working with our construction teams, technical manager and estimating teams to develop the tender stage construction methodology and programme for individual projects Liaising with internal and external parties to develop methodologies and quality submission responses including sub-contractors and external consultants Preparing written responses to tender questions, with a particular focus on the development and presentation of technical construction methodologies, programme and construction sequence Working with the submissions team to prepare and finalise all tender information for submission Preparing and attending presentations for client interviews Attending site visits during the tender period Qualifications Desirable A degree in civil engineering or a construction related discipline Experience of working in preconstruction or bid environments Ability to develop programmes (Asta, Project or Primavera) and working ability in CAD Experience Essential Experience working in a civil engineering role within consultancy or contracting Ability to develop and present complex construction methodologies to technical and non-technical audiences Knowledge of construction techniques within a civil engineering environment, particularly on marine, rail, bridge, road, and flood alleviation projects Strong writing ability, particularly technical report writing or method statements Experience of coordinating design management and developing value engineering proposals Be able to effectively plan your own workload, working to tight deadlines Strong IT and creative presentation skills Strong written and oral communication skills Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy Team player What's in it for you?
